i craft studio | by Farrieda Smit
i craft studio is a one-woman operation run from my small atelier home workspace, where every piece is designed, crafted, and assembled by hand - from drying the flowers to sealing them in resin to assembling the final design. Nothing here is rushed or mass-produced. Honoring what’s often overlooked: fading blooms, forgotten materials, and the kind of craftsmanship that takes time.
It’s a quiet resistance to the disposable mindset of fast fashion — and a celebration of what’s real, raw, and made with care, grounded in respect — for nature, for craftsmanship, and for the stories behind every material used. This is not fast fashion. It’s slow, intentional, and rooted in the belief that beauty comes from care, not excess.
Everything created in the studio is made in small batches, with minimal waste. From sourcing to final touches, each step is guided by a deep love for the natural world and a commitment to keeping the process as authentic as possible.
The heart of each piece is a real flower. Some are gifted, some collected before being discarded by florists, others picked in season. I use traditional drying methods like pressed flower preservation as well as salt dehydration to bring out their colors and textures naturally. No two blooms are the same, just like no two creations are.
From designing and preserving, to coating in resin and assembling the final jewelry — every step is done by my hands. Flowers are carefully dried, sealed in crystal-clear, UV-stable resin, and paired with unique elements: use plated gold (18k or 24k), recycled textiles for chokers, and collected decorative pieces like vintage beads, antique finds, and foraged small selections of seashells (always washed up on the beach, never taken directly from the sea)
i craft studio is rooted in low-waste, small-scale craftsmanship. I work with what already exists — from fashion designer offcuts to vintage objects and saving flowers from wilting; Repurposed to extend their life in a new, meaningful form. There is no overstock, i create slowly and thoughtfully. This allows my work to stay personal and connected — and helps avoid the waste that comes from chasing trends or filling shelves. The studio’s goal is to make artful, wearable and responsible. ALL pieces are one-of-a-kind, making your jewelry as unique as you are.
